On Monday 22 May, the unions called for a demonstration in Brussels. For more than 10 weeks, Delhaize retail and supermarket staff have been taking action against the management's franchising plan. Their fight is the fight of all of us.

Yes, we have the right to demonstrate and protest for our rights, for our future, our jobs, our wages... This is the message that 20,000 demonstrators from all over the country are sending out today in response to a call from the unions.

Because if today the government and management are sending bailiffs, police, fines and fire engines to Delhaize, where will it be tomorrow?

Especially when we see that the government is trying to pass its law of deprivation of freedoms, which would make it possible to prohibit certain people from participating in demonstrations.

This means that the government is choosing the side of the multinationals against the workers. Wages are frozen, but record profits are allowed to flow into the pockets of shareholders. And rather than tackling inequality, it is increasing repression.

Opposing the power of multinationals and the omnipotence of money is not a crime. We continue the fight.
