On April 4th, the European meeting "Europe for the People" took place in Brussels, an initiative co-organized by the Workers' Party of Belgium (PVDA-PTB), the Party of the European Left (PEL), AKEL of Cyprus, and Levica of Slovenia.

Following the Dutch and French editions, Peter Mertens' groundbreaking new book "Mutiny" has now also been released in English (Spanish, German, and Portuguese editions to follow).

‘Europe for People’ is a meeting of European left-wing forces - political parties, trade unions and social movements - organised by the PVDA-PTB, AKEL (Cyprus), Levica (Slovenia) and the Party of the European Left, as part of the Belgian Presidency of the European Union and two months before the European elections.

After its success in Flanders, Peter Mertens, General Secretary of the PVDA-PTB, presented the French edition (Ed. Agone) of his latest book ‘Mutiny. How our world is tilting’ on March 5 in Brussels, in front of hundreds of people, in the beautiful Studio 4 of Flagey.

It is in an exciting atmosphere that the PVDA-PTB presented its program of rupture on Sunday, March 10 during the electoral congress which brought together candidates for the European, federal and regional elections on June 9. With those who are the faces of change, with our members who are fighting on the ground for more social justice. 🫶

Under the leadership of the Belgian Presidency of the EU, an agreement has been reached on the new budgetary rules. It's a new antidemocratic straithjacket that will force Belgium to make draconian cuts: "It's a budgetary straitjacket that drives the destruction of our public services and social rights. This text is even worse than what was proposed by the European Commission", reacts Marc Botenga, MEP for the PVDA-PTB.
